Kids and Babies Can Eat Honey?

It has been suggested that honey should not be given to children under the age of 1 year because they contain Clostridium botulinum, the bacteria that produce toxins botulinin, often found in canned foods.

This opinion is not true and has been proven by a team of doctors from the hospital Al Kafji National Hospital- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who studied more than 220 examples of honey from various countries and interviews with the families of the 1500 babies over the honey which was given at birth.

From this research proves reports NO clostridium Botilinum contaminated honey and none of babies who suffer from botulism due to honey. So the opportunity for Clostridium Botilium on honey, together with opportunities exist in other food ingredients derived from nature such as milk and others. So honey is safe for consumption all ages even infants under 1 year of age, the most important thing to note dosage use in children mainly under the age of 1 year and with the diluent (water mixed with ripe).

Dose use of honey
Taking the maximum dose of honey is 15 mg / kg bw / day, which means that if we are a young adult with a body weight of 50 kg, then he should not drink honey maximum of 750 mg (one large bottle) a day. The average adult of 100-200 grams of honey is recommended to drink or 3- 9 tablespoons per day, while for children by half, between 50-100 grams. Surely this dose is far from the maximum dose. This is why honey is safe for diabetics though. Hope it is useful.
